Set Your Clocks Back

Set Your Clocks Back

November is here, and we are officially in the holiday season. Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour on Sunday, November 5th. The good thing about living in the digital age is that we don’t have to set too many clocks on our own anymore. Our phones and most electronic devices reset on their own, but don’t forget clocks on devices like your microwave, your stove and even your car. The time change is happening at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, giving you the rest of the weekend to adjust and enjoy an extra hour of sleep on Monday morning.

November is the perfect month to reflect on what you are thankful for this year. After all, that is what the season of Thanksgiving is all about. As you shop for your Thanksgiving turkey and all of the sides, reflect on what you’ve been most thankful for this year.

As you prepare for the upcoming holiday, there are a few events going on locally that you might want to check out. For example, Garden Glow at Maymont continues this week through November 12th. Observe and explore the entire park aglow like an enchanted forest after sunset. The cost for admission during this event is just $16 and the park glows from Wednesday – Sunday.

If you are an avid athlete or have friends or family that are, you don’t want to miss the
Richmond Marathon, sponsored by Richmond Sportsbackers on November 11th. The first leg of the race starts at 7 a.m. in Browns Island. Even if you’re not a runner, it might be fun to show up as a spectator to cheer on the brave runners who have committed to completing the journey of 26.2 miles.

Also, as you go out and shop for Black Friday this year, don’t forget that there are a string of events that now this highly anticipated event:

  • Small Business Saturday: Get out and support your small local area businesses.
  • Cyber Monday: Becoming increasingly popular as we purchase more and more online, Cyber Monday always has great deals to take advantage of.
  • Giving Tuesday: After spending over the last few days, take some time to give back to  your favorite nonprofit or cause.

Whatever activity you engage in this month, remember to put safety first, and always be
thankful for what you have.
